From Piepersfelde to Ohio

Hi Dieter,

I have only been researching my wife's Humke Family for about 3 years.
I am still searching. I am still hoping that I will find a living member of this family.

The information I have collected so far is that my wife, Beverly Joyce
Humke, gggrandfather lived in Piepersfelde, near Gollnow, Pommern in
1872. His name was Friedrish Eduard Humke. Friedrisch was employed in
the services of the goverment as a forester. Friedrisch married Wilhemine Goecks.

Friedrisch had at least one son. My wife's ggrandfather, August Ludwig
Albert Humke. August was born 16 JUN 1849 in Labbuhn. August's
occupation was a Tailor. August was suppossed to have been the personal
Tailor to the Kieser of Germany.

August married Friederike Laak, 31MAY1872. Friederike was born
27 MAY 1853 in Falkenberg, Germany.

The marriage register was of the Evanglist-Luthern Church, St.
Laurentius in Sandau Germany, Year 1872, Page 3, Number 14.

Of this marriage, there were 6 children born to them while living in
Germany. Cosmus Georg Albert Humke, born: 27SEP1872; Johann Friedrich
Eduard Humke, born: 27OCT1873( my wife's grandfather); Carl Rudolph
Wilhelm Humke, born: 27APR1875; Max Albert Wilhelm Humke, born:
27NOV1876; Robert Otto Paul Humke, born: 9JUN1880; and one daughter,
Hedwig Pauline Wanda Humke, born: 25NOV1881.

In 19 MAR1882, August and his family sailed from Hamburg, Germany to New
York U.S.A. They arrived in 19 days, 7APR1882. The daughter, Hedwig,
was listed on the departure and arrival lists, but there has been no mention of her after that.

I do not know the date, but they showed up in Delphos, Allen, Ohio. The
family had 2 daughters born to them there. Mary"Mamie"Humke, born:
14 NOV 1884; Bertha Humke, born: 20 NOV 1890.

In 1892 the family moved from Ohio to Anderson, Madison, Indiana. Here
they had one more daughter born to them, Emma Humke, born: 18 JAN 1893.
It was here in Anderson, Indiana the family spent the rest of their
lives. August was well known and respected in the area. He had a very
successful and thriving Tailor Shop. Three of his sons, George,
Rudolph, and Robert were partners in the business, and continued the
business after their father's death.

Carl Humke, the son of Friedrish Eduard Humke, was the father of my
wife, Beverly. We have been married for 37 years and have 3 children.
