From Jargenow to Illinois

I really do not have a lot of information about my ancestors as the family
Bible was lost after my Grandma passed away.
My great grandfather, Carl Bahls was born in the village of Jargenow, County
Grimmen, District Stralsund on July 4, 1839.
He served in the 5th Infantry Brigade and was discharged because of physical
weakness on July 16, 1861.

He was married to Friederike Lembke who was born on October 14, 1840 in
Kreis Greifswald, Vor Pomernaia. They came to the United States in the mid
to late 1860's and settled in Ogle County, Illinois near Lindenwood. My
grandfather, William Bahls was born there and thus far I have not been able
to get any record of this either.
In the 1870's they moved to Calhoun County, Iowa and lived there until their
deaths. He died on September 24, 1924 and my great grandmother passed away on June 18, 1931.

My grandfather, William Bahls married Bertha Ramthun and they also lived in
Calhoun County, Iowa until their deaths. They had 11 children, one daughter
passed away at birth, another daughter died when she was 2-4 years old and
a son, William died when he was a young man. Most of the family stayed in
the Calhoun County, Rockwell City area except for one son, Walter, who lived
in Huntley, Minnesota.
