From Stettin to Wausau, Wisconsin

Dear Dieter:

We are pleased to tell you about my husband's ancestors. His gr. grandfather  (Ferdinand Herman Marth) came to the U.S. with his wife and family on the vessel  Kathy arriving here July 15, 1882.

Records regarding his citizenship indicate that they  left Germany from Stettin.             His gr grandmother's maiden name was Kiekhoefer.

The reason for leaving Germany was because the family did not wish to have their son, Herman, drafted in to the military.

Upon arrival in the U.S. the family settled in Wausau, Wisconsin. Decendents of this gentlemen now live throughout the United States       (New York, Tennessee, Arizona, Texas, New Jersey, California. Maryland, and South Carolina) Unfortunately, we have been unable to locate or find any information about the Marth family dating back beyond 1882.

We have been told the family lived in what is now part of Poland.

Thank you for your interest, Dieter. Regards, Edie Marth
